178 Million Americans are missing one or more of their natural teeth. Implants are out of reach for many, and low-cost options are too uncomfortable or unaesthetic for others. The Valplast partial denture is a perfect option for this population.

Most dentures, crowns, bridges and implants are fabricated in commercial dental laboratories. Dental labs face many challenges in meeting the current demand for these restorations. The labor pool for experienced dental technicians is shrinking and managers are finding it increasingly difficult to staff their labs. Traditional manufacturing methods are time consuming and use wasteful products like waxes and plasters. Digital CAD/CAM methods exist but until recently have not been applied to the field of dentures and partials.

Enter the Arfona philosophy: 3D manufacturing shouldn't be complicated, nor should it be cost prohibitive. Arfona manufactures the r.Pod Desktop 3D Printer, the world's first printer optimized for Valplast partial dentures and appliances. The printer allows dental professionals to fabricate restorations in half the time and for half the cost.

Founded in 2016 by a group of dental technicians and 3D printing enthusiasts, Arfona is focused on digitizing aspects of the dental lab in which traditional techniques are still being used.
